  • Tagalog Church Songs

I will highly appreciate if you can provide me information from where i can obtain/purchase compact discs of tagalog songs being sung during a church mass. I prefer CDs in karaoke format. I need the media for my sister/brother in law who stand as moderators during First Sunday of the month mass for Catholic church-goers in Chicago.

Many thanks in advance for your help.

There is a "Tagalog" Church song ang BP, yung Tinapay ng Buhay.... meron ding JMM tape na pang Misa, nakalimutan ko lang ang title. Pero hindi sya KARAOKE style

Many thanks Mr. Alexander for your quick response. Well I guess I have to scan various music merchandise outlets for any possibility of a karaoke version availability.

I perused the selections in your Tinapay ng Buhay CD, will I be able to find it in SM outlets' record section or through one of its shop-in-shop stores? Robinson's maybe? Else, how can I acquire one? I live in Imus, Cavite.

Let me clarify something... you mentioned "your Tinapay ng Buhay CD" you are refering to Bukas Palad ha... and I am not a BP Member... pareho lang tayo na BP Onliner

I remember the other tape produced by JMM... though BP din ang kumanta doon, they were not considered an official BP album (as quoted below)...

It's not an 'official' Bukas Palad album because it's not directly produced by Bukas Palad as an organization. (Although, if I remember correctly, Fr. Manoling produced the album. And virtually all the people involved in it are from BP.)

It's intended mainly for parish choirs who may not have instrumentalists or musical directors - kaya may minus one at kaya madaling aralin yung mga voices.

Most of the arrangements are the traditional/popular versions, with new arrangements by Gino Torres. The album was actually sung only by a quartet (Tonet, Laine, Anna, and Norman yata) so the various voices are clearer and easy to study.

The album's title is MISANG PILIPINO... meron syang vocals sa side A at minus one sa side B

          Re: tagalog church songs

I opened the thread link na ibinigay mo, may kalumaan na (three years ago), so probably ay hindi na available. May nabasa kasi ako na thread link sa message board that BP no longer has availabe cassette tapes in stock nor they have future plans to produce/re-produce ones.

Okay, do you have any idea from where I can possibly acquire one such cassette recording, if I will be lucky enough. If I will have one, since na may minus one version (instrumentals) ang one side, I could possiblly burn it to CD.

Then again, sabi ko nga, I reside here in Cavite, where can I purchase BP music materials na malapit dito sa place of abode ko.

Pasensiya na, pero I do not know from whom among BP officers I can relay my queries.

          bregards,

They were refering to OLD BP Casette, since this one is "not" a BP one...

Actually, I saw a copy of Misang Pilipino in St. Paul's store in SM Southmall before. Why don't you try the St. Paul's outlets near your area?

Light from Light album po is English Mass.

I think your organist is incorrect

The title of the song is Pagbabalik-loob, and it was written by Fr. Rey Mangulabnan of the Diocese of Malolos. It is available in the album Minamahal, Nagmamahal published by the Immaculate Conception Major Seminary in Tabe, Guiguinto, Bulacan (originally available in cassette form, not sure if it was re-released in CD) and is found in the same album where song like "Unang Alay", "Umasa Ka sa Diyos" and "Dahil Nagmamahal" were published. Fr. Benito Justiniano, the winning composer of "Sa Batong Ito" which BP recorded, also had one of his songs recorded here ("Nasa Tabi Ko ang Panginoon", a *really* beautiful Psalm )

Medyo matagal na ang album na ito, I think mahirap na itong hanapin maski sa Chancery or bookstore ng Malolos Cathedral (been there myself a few months back, wala na ito doon). I have a copy of this tape in the province...try kong hanapin kapag nauwi ako uli.

Here is the complete lyrics to the song:

                        PAGBABALIK-LOOB
                        (Fr. Rey Mangulabnan)

                        1. Nalunod ako sa ganda ng mundo
                        puso’y nabulag sa yaman nito
                        di ko makita ang kaliwanagang
dulot ng ‘sang buhay na banal

sabihin mo lamang at susunod ako.

                        (koro 2x)

Coda: Sabihin mo lamang sabihin mo lamang
sabihin mo lamang at susunod ako

Tingnan natin kung ico-cover man ito ng BP or ng iba pang kilalang grupo

Dagdag ko lang...I'll need to verify this, pero parang ni-compose yata ito ni Fr. Rey Mangulabnan during the (mandatory) 30-day retreat for seminarians who are about to be ordained. For example:

(confirmed) Fr. Rey Magnaye - Unang Alay. Rey Magnaye.
(?) Fr. GBoi Samonte - Dahil Nagmamahal

Not sure what else were the products of the 30-day retreats
